Gross processing

If a lung biopsy (or a tissue biopsy to rule out metastatic lung tumor) consists of only one small specimen, generally split it into 2 cassettes, as molecular studies may need a separate sample.

Otherwise, as per general gross processing.

Microscopic examination

As per general lung screening.
