Mainly present in endoscopic biopsy of the gastroesophageal junction or distal esophagus.

Microscopic evaluation

In biopsies, classify as either low, moderately or high differentiated.

Well differentiated: >95% gland composition Moderately differentiated 50%-95% gland composition, Poor differentiation is <50% gland composition.[1]

Reporting

Esophagus, biopsy:
Invasive adenocarcinoma, moderately differentiated.
